A good shoot starts days in advance. The clearer the concept, outfits and schedule, the more time is left on set for the pictures.
Sort out beforehand
- Concept and mood: collect reference pictures and go through them with the photographer
- Outfits: which ones, how many, who brings what
- Make-up and hair: are you doing them yourself or is there a make-up artist
- Location, time, duration and how to get there
- What the pictures may be used for
The day before
- Iron or steam your clothes and pack everything
- Look after your skin, shave if needed, don't try new products
- Try out poses in front of the mirror
- Get an early night
What to bring
- Nude and black underwear without patterns
- Matching shoes for every outfit
- Hairbrush, hair ties, make-up wipes
- Water and a snack
On set
Nerves at the start are normal and usually settle after the first few frames. Ask if you don't understand a direction, and speak up straight away if something makes you uncomfortable. Ask to see shots on the camera display now and then, so you can see what works.
In the model coaching you sit down with Eric for 30 minutes after every shoot and go through what worked and what to do differently next time.
