Model coaching

In person with Eric: ten shoots that build on each other. After each one you sit down together and go through what worked. Step by step, you build the material you use to apply to agencies.

Studios in and around Burgau

One shoot per step, with coaching

You work in front of the camera with the person photographing you, not on your own with a course.

  • After every shoot you sit down with Eric for 30 minutes. He explains what worked and gives you specific tips for next time.

  • At least 15 pictures per shoot, so you always have something to post.

  • Every shoot in a different setting. Eric works with various rented studios in Burgau and the surrounding area.

Package sizes

  • 3steps

    Three shoots with coaching.

  • 6steps

    Six shoots with coaching.

  • 10steps

All ten shoots, from finding your niche to your own model website.

Every step is a shoot with coaching, once a month or every two months, whichever rhythm suits you. You settle on the package size together in the consultation.

Your path in ten steps

Every step is a shoot with coaching. What you come away with is listed under each one.

  1. Eric Heitz shows a model the shot on the camera display in the studio

Step 1: Introductory shoot and finding your niche

In the first shoot you get to know each other. You try out different niches, such as fashion, beauty, editorial, business or casual, gather first impressions and talk about your expectations and goals. You need no experience for this; Eric guides you pose by pose.

AfterwardsYou know which niche suits you and where your strengths lie, and you hold your first professional pictures in your hands.

  2. Portrait of a woman with a shadow pattern across her face and shoulders in warm light

Step 2: Creative shoot for Instagram plus Instagram guide

The pictures from this shoot are tailored to your Instagram presence: content that fits your theme and a selection that works together in your feed. It comes with the Instagram guide, including a feed preview, posting dates and tips, hashtags among them.

AfterwardsAfter the shoot you know which picture goes online when.

  3. Model in jeans standing in a stubble field under an open sky

Step 3: Outdoor shoot: urban and nature

Out of the studio: parks, streets and squares in the city, plus nature. Outside, light and background keep changing. You learn to deliver in front of the camera even when the light does not cooperate.

AfterwardsYour portfolio gains depth, and a job in the open air is no longer new ground for you.

  4. Black and white beauty portrait, hands in lace gloves resting at the chin

Step 4: Facial expression and emotional control

Despair, sadness, longing: in this shoot you learn to bring strong emotions to the camera in a controlled, believable way. Small changes in your eyes, mouth and the angle of your head decide what a picture says.

AfterwardsYour pictures tell stories, and you can call up an expression on cue.

  5. Black and white portrait of a laughing woman in a white shirt

Step 5: Polas plus niche shoot

Polas are plain shots without make-up that you use to apply to agencies. This session produces 6 polas plus 15 pictures with make-up in the look of your niche for Instagram.

AfterwardsYou can apply to agencies while your feed keeps going. Both from one shoot.

  6. Blonde model in a black coat sitting on a stool against a beige background

    Step 6: Comp card shoot

The comp card (Sedcard in German) is your calling card in the industry: selected pictures and your measurements on one card. For the images you change through 12 outfits and 12 looks in one shoot, each showing a different side of you.

AfterwardsYou have a comp card you can send to agencies and clients.

  7. Model in a black suit on a director's chair against a beige background

Step 7: Printed model book plus legal handbook

In the studio you shoot expressive portraits and full-length pictures, from casual to high fashion. They become your printed book, which you take to castings and appointments. You also get the legal handbook.

AfterwardsYour book shows your path and your style, and you have something to hand over at every appointment.

  8. Model wearing a clip-on microphone sits at a wooden table and speaks to the camera

Step 8: Introduction video for agencies

You shoot your niche specifically for applications and film a short video introducing yourself, because photos don't show an agency how you move and speak. Eric also talks you through which agencies suit you and which ones to stay away from.

AfterwardsYou start looking for an agency prepared, with pictures and video.

  9. Model wearing sunglasses and a college jacket

    Step 9: Self-marketing and networking

You tailor your portfolio to specific events, with matching looks, and connect with organisers. This also covers how to approach agencies, photographers and brands yourself and how to stay in touch.

AfterwardsYou approach organisers, agencies and clients yourself and know what to show them.

  10. Model in a red lace dress in the studio

Step 10: Model index plus your own model website

To finish, you are added to a model index and get your own model website with your pictures in one place. You work on new looks and current trends, adapt your material to new niches and keep up your contacts with agencies.

AfterwardsYour listing stays current, and your portfolio grows with you.

Which niche suits you?

In the first shoot you try out several directions. Lingerie and boudoir are possible too, or a combination that suits you.

Behind the camera: Eric Heitz

For two years he stood in front of the lens himself as an editorial model, on the catwalk and in niche shoots. So he knows how it feels when a pose won't land or an expression won't come.

He meets you where you are today and guides you through every pose. The aim is for you to feel comfortable in front of the camera, not to pretend to be someone else.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need modelling experience?

No. In the introductory shoot you start from scratch. Eric guides you through everything, pose by pose.

Who can apply?

Anyone who wants to work as a model. Requirements differ from niche to niche, which is why you look for the niche that suits you together in the first shoot. Whether the coaching is right for you is something we work out in the first conversation. Not every application is accepted.

What happens after I apply?

You book a slot for the first conversation online. If it's a fit, a Zoom consultation follows, where we go through the programme, the package size and the cost. There is no trial shoot beforehand. Your first shoot is step 1 of the coaching.

How long do I commit for?

There are three sizes: 3, 6 or 10 steps. One step is one shoot with coaching, once a month or every two months, whichever rhythm suits you.

How much does the coaching cost?

That depends on the package size. We go through the cost with you in the consultation, before you decide.

How many pictures do I get per shoot?

At least 15 pictures per shoot, so you always have something to post.

Which niches are possible?

Fashion, beauty, editorial, casual, business, fitness, lingerie and boudoir, or a combination that suits you.

Where do the shoots take place?

In various rented studios in Burgau and the surrounding area, and for the outdoor step at suitable spots in town and in nature.

Can I apply to agencies with the material?

Yes, that is what the polas, comp card and introduction video are for. Eric selects the material with you.

Is there a guarantee of jobs or an agency contract?

No. Whether an agency signs you or a client books you is up to the agencies and clients. The coaching gives you pictures, materials and experience in front of the camera that you can apply with. Artista Photography is not a model agency.

In person or online?

Both take you through the same ten steps. In the model coaching every step is a shoot with Eric, in person in and around Burgau. The Academy brings the programme to you online, with video lessons, assignments and a weekly group call with Eric, wherever you live.
